Thanks to popular demand, we’ve partnered with UCSF to bring back our Surgical Skills workshop! Join us for a hands-on workshop at UCSF’s Surgical Skills Center where you will get the opportunity to learn from UCSF surgeons and practice knot tying, laparoscopic surgery, and scrubbing in for surgeries. The workshop will be led by five UCSF surgeons—Dr. Julie Ann Sosa, Chair, Department of Surgery, Dr. Adnan Alseidi, Gastrointestinal Surgeon, Dr. Riley Brian, General Surgery Resident, Dr. Brandon Cowan, Resident Research Fellow, and Dr. Shareef Syed, Organ Transplant Surgeon.
Each of the surgeons will share more about their journey, medical training and day-to-day work. Then, girls will rotate through three stations where they will get to practice the different steps of the surgical process—scrubbing in for surgery, making incisions and operating using laparoscopic surgical techniques, and finally, how to suture and tie knots to close.
This workshop will be held at UCSF in San Francisco. Due to space constraints, we can only accommodate 20 girls. So, we will be doing attendance lottery style. Please register by Thursday (11/7) if you would like the chance to attend.
