Amy Heneghan, an Emergency Pediatrician at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, spoke at Object’s first workshop of the decade! Amy has always had a love for children and helping others, so she worked diligently in order to become a pediatrician. She spent about 10 years in school, but she still learns something new every day in her profession. During the workshop, Amy talked about the importance of mentors, the benefits of working hard, and the role that confidence plays in following your passion.
Amy led an activity to give girls exposure into her life as a doctor through interactive case studies.
Here are the 3 takeaways from Amy’s talk:
“If you really feel like there is something you were made to do, then it’s a matter of hard work and confidence to get there.”
“It’s important to have mentors that believe in you and will help guide you to gain confidence.”
“Study hard, prioritize your learning, be okay with making sacrifices, and don’t feel defeated if something is not going your way.”
