You are staying in a hotel and you need more towels. So, you call to request towels. Normal. Five minutes later, you get a call that your delivery is outside. You expect to see a person, but instead, you see a ROBOT!
Savioke is a company designing robots for hotels. Relay, their first robot, makes deliveries to guests. The process is simple. You call to request something. The hotel staff members put the requested items inside Relay and type in your room number. With that, Relay is on its way. It will automatically call the elevator, get in, and navigate to your room. It will do all of this without crashing into obstacles or people. When Relay is outside your room, you will get a call that your delivery is outside. Once you collect your items, Relay navigates its way down to the lobby and automatically goes and charges itself so that it is prepared for the next delivery.
Tessa Lau, CTO and Chief Robot Whisperer, Lauren Schechtman, VP of Marketing, and Mia Shanholtzer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, will speak about their personal journeys and their experience building robots to help people. And come prepared to tinker with robots.
